Photo's from our new semi-permanent shop at SO:ME Space at the South Melbourne Markets

All photo's by Marsha Golemac

So here are our professional photo's of our SUPERCOOL new shop at SO:ME Space. We're pretty excited to share it all with you. Make sure you pop down on the market days (wed, fri, sat & sun) to say hi and check it out. We'll be here for 6 months this time! Thanks needs to go to some people who helped make it all happen in no particular order.

1. The team behind SO:ME Space & the South Melbourne Markets (Belinda, Claude, Sinclair & Ceyda)

2. Our awesome and super quick builders - Twelve Nails

3. Our designers from Studio Alto for the awesome manifesto (it takes up a whole wall like a wallpaper describing who we are, what we do and what we are about) alongside our great logo, postcards and overall brand identity.

4. All the talented, creative designers & brands whose product we stock - your fresh designs make us look SuperCool!

5. Our new van Paco - you've really worked hard driving around collecting stock, holding our display furniture and we've loved riding in you!

6. Adolfo (Noonie's papi) - Muchos Gracias for your great painting skills with our Spinning Wheel

7. Clarita (Noonie's mami) - Muchos Gracias for providing us with yummy healthy home cooking whilst we worked 13 hour days to get this ready

8. Adrian (Kate's dad) - Thanks for having a timber yard - its finally come in handy for us - providing the building supplies to make this shop happen

9. Our other family members for being patient whilst we were too busy to talk, have lots of boxes around and supporting us in general

10. Our friends for giving us words of encouragement all the way and then coming in to visit & see our new shop!

11. And instagram for allowing us to share our work in progress with everyone to prove it doesn't happen overnight!

12. Our SuperCool fans who come to shop with us - making this all possible. (otherwise it would just be an art gallery with no-one buying!)

Our new semi-permanent shop at SO:ME space South Melbourne Market

We've been busy little beavers getting our new shop ready at  SO:ME Space  in the South Melbourne Market. Building, painting, sourcing, lifting, unpacking, merchandising...... you name it. A small glimpse into renovating a house.... ewwk!  Below are some behind the scene shots of our shop in progress.

We open Friday 29 July and we would love it if you came by and said hi... checked us out and if you're lucky you might win some great prizes! We've got a massive spinning wheel (price is right style!) and if you spend over $50 with us from Friday 29 June to Sunday 1 July you get to take a spin of the wheel which has heaps of great prizes to be won.

General Opening Hours - (same days as the market)

Wednesday 8am - 4pm Friday 8am - 5pm Saturday 8am - 4pm Sunday 8am - 4pm

Location -  SO:ME Space at South Melbourne Markets Enter from the corner of Cecil & York Street (near

claypots) and walk left into SO:ME space.

The empty space before we began building.

After building, the pegboard wall painted "resplendent" yellow.... who comes up with these paint names anyway?

Our manifesto wall designed by the creative crew at Studio Alto.

A view not quite finished - our manifesto wall (see those air bubbles... we weren't happy about that.. so we tore it down and did it again.. see below) The blackboard wall (not quite finished) and then our yellow pegboard wall....

Our lightbox with our awesome logo by Studio Alto lights up for the first time!

Our awesome vintage mechanics workbench is our new counter!

After some serious scrapping of our first attempt at the manifesto wall... we quite liked how it looked when aged....

Some geometic goodness - new stock for our SuperCool shop.

Our new shower curtain/ wall hanging / room divider by Izola... we'll be selling these in the new shop as well.

We've got heaps of vintage sewing bobbins (not many of the French sewing bobbins left in a set of 3) but heaps of new odd sized bobbins as well.

Our best selling doorknobs - displayed to see all the colours and prints available.

Excited to introduce more cool printed and colourful crockery....

We've also got lots of new Cuban and Swedish Cigar boxes - we love the prints and patterns.

Vintage chemistry and apothecary bottles from Japan in heaps of different sizes.

Some typographic and patterned goodness in a corner of the shop.

TheSuperCool Community

Since we launched TheSuperCool back in November last year, we have met some really SuperCool customers who continue to inspire us with their awesome DIY ideas. We decided to set up a section on our site dedicated to them and what they've done with something they bought from us.

If you're a customer and you bought something and want to share it with us, just email us at hey@thesupercool.com and attach a LOW RES picture or you can share it on our facebook page, our twitter page , instagram or pinterest . Here's a few pics to show you what some of our customers have been up to.

Aimee bought these glass square doorknobs for her mum in New Zealand and they both love them.  If you like these, we sell them in store and we will be selling them online soon.

Lizzie bought some custom scrabble slogans off us for a dinner party she was holding. She had each of the guests names spelt out and then played games throughout the night where her guests had to spell words to win prizes... great idea Lizzie! If you like this idea and want some custom scrabble slogans, order them here.

Kayte bought the Mr & Mrs vintage signs for a wedding she was shooting (she's a great wedding photographer) and sent us in the pics. Nice work Kayte. You can buy these and other versions of our signs here .

Our fave graphic designers Studio Alto got a Gracias flag from us for their awesome design work for us and we love it on their studio couch. You can get this and other rad flags here .

Fab stylist Heather Nette King bought the bonjour flag for her parents in law. Doesn't it look great on their front porch? You can get this and other  rad flags here .

A fellow Argentinean amigo bought this great vintage Japanese chemistry pot from us with no idea what he would do with it and then realised it would make a great vase holder!

Our gorgeous Swiss friend Angela was given this jute bag appropriately called "Swiss Vintage" & used it for her balloons when having a party! Great idea.

LOVE this idea. A dude bought this vintage ladder off us and uses it as his jeans shelves! Rad.

One of our mini milk bottles as a vase in action! Love the spotted tablecloth underneath.

In march during fashion week, we ran a workshop for QV where we styled 5 display cases with product from QV retailers. We also popped in our Winner flag and our hessian red number cushion. The theme of this case was Heritage Amerciana.

In this display case we used the vintage bowling pins and the upcycled vintage patchwork cushions.

Sydney Finders Keepers Photo's

Well it was a big drive up (9.5 hours plus pit stops to admire the various truck stops & toilets along the way!) in our new van we've called "Paco" ( find out the back story here ) to Sydney last week.

Thanks to ALL the SuperCool customers who came by, said hi, shopped with us and then tweeted, facebooked, instagramed & emailed us afterwards!

Thanks to The Finders Keepers for providing such a great industrial space like Carriageworks possible and to all our creative neighbours! Here are some snapshots (taken hastily by me as we were about to open!) to show you our set up. We'll be back to visit soon Sydney!
